CREATIVE & CULTURAL SKILLS (SCOTLAND)
Founded in May 2004, Creative & Cultural Skills is the Sector Skills Council for advertising, crafts, cultural heritage, design, literature, music, performing and visual arts. Bridge the gap between industry, education and the government, to give employers a real influence over education and skills in the UK.
Creative Scotland is the public body that supports the arts, screen and creative industries across all parts of Scotland on behalf of everyone who lives, works or visits there. Enable people and organisations to work in and experience the arts, screen and creative industries in Scotland by helping others to develop great ideas and bring them to life. Distribute funding from the Scottish Government and The National Lottery.
Culture Republic work with artists, producers and cultural organisations across Scotland who want to grow. Aim to help organisations understand who their audiences are, and how to reach them. Provide an innovative support service, helping creatives to develop their skills and knowledge to engage more audiences.
HIT THE ROAD
Hit The Road is a project run by the Scottish Music Centre and supported by the Youth Music Initiative that gives young performers between the age of 14 to 19 the opportunity to learn more about performing and touring across Scotland. The aim of the project is to link young people with professional promoters, managers and personnel who will teach them the essential skills needed to take their music out of the practice room and onto the road. MUSIC DEVELOPMENT DUNDEE
Managed by Leisure & Culture Dundee, Music Development Dundee works to create opportunities for involvement and participation in a wide range of music and musical experiences, develop new audiences for Classical, Jazz, Traditional, World and Rock music, and to nurture and develop the musical skills of young people through the provision of training projects and a range of workshop events.
National music mentoring scheme run by the Scottish Music Centre and supported by Creative Scotland’s Youth Music Initiative. Aims to offer one to one experience with music industry professionals who will offer guidance, encouragement, skills and knowledge across a range of industry roles, covering everything from performance to event promotion. SCOTTISH MUSIC CENTER
Member based organisation that actively promotes Scotland’s music locally, nationally and internationally. One-stop shop for Scottish music information and advice, and home to archive of nearly 30,000 items ranging from songsheets and scores to the latest CD releases. Visitors to the centre can also use computers with range of music software available, and have access to a variety of specialist music publications and directories. SCOTTISH MUSIC INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION
The Scottish Music Industry Association exists to strengthen the music industry from within and promote, advocate and champion the Scottish music business. Encourage musical endeavour and growth through training and development and encourage trading within the creative industries and overseas.
